Clinton, IL – June 12, 2020 – Josh Shofner, President at First National Bank and Trust has been elected as President of the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce effective April 27, 2020 after serving on the board for four years.
First National Bank and Trust has encouraged its employees to be involved in the local community, Shofner being a prime example of this. All First National Bank and Trust employees receive 50 hours of VTO or Volunteer-Time-Off to serve their community.
In March of this year, the Clinton Chamber’s President, Gabe Goldsmith, resigned to take a new job in another state. With this change, Vice President Byron Conner took over the position until the Chamber Board of Directors could meet and elect a new president. Josh Shofner, First National Bank & Trust, was elected as the new Chamber President at the April board meeting. Josh will serve as president for the rest of 2020.
The Chamber prides itself on supporting local business members through promotional opportunities, networking, advertising and giving their members “the scoop” in the local newsletter. The Chamber strives to provide resources, event and news to enrich the local community. First National Bank and Trust is also a member of the Chamber.
When asked what he was looking forward to most as Chamber President, Shofner stated, “meeting with members and hearing from them on how the Chamber can provide additional value to their businesses. This is a time of great change for businesses and we need to be sure we remain a relevant piece of their strategy.”
Shofner has been with the First National Bank and Trust for two decades. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Charity for 20 years and they have one daughter together. Shofner has also served as a DeLand-Weldon School board member and is a member of the Clinton Rotary Club.
