Youngsters have chance to learn about business through Entrepreneur Camp

Budding entrepreneurs will have a chance to ply their trade during the 2019 YMCA Entrepreneur Camps.

First National Bank and Trust and its nonprofit arm TS Institute join the University of Illinois Extension as the proud sponsors of the YMCA Entrepreneur Camp for fifth- through eighth-graders.

Activities at the YMCA camp – which still has space available - will feature students designing and building an electric motorcycle, creating branding and marketing for a business, creating an infomercial and learning to pitch investors. Students will also visit area businesses.

“This is a great opportunity for students to learn about business and entrepreneurship,” said Connie Unruh with First National Bank and Trust and TS Institute.

Prizes will be on the line as student groups pitch their plan to investors.

The YMCA camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 10, through Friday, June 14 at the Clinton YMCA, 417 S. Alexander St.

The cost is $30 per student, though it’s free for Camp Osage members. Before and after care is available as well.

Call the YMCA at 217-935-8307 to register for this great week of learning. For more information call Unruh at 217-935-7464.
